Volunteering opportunities this winter

Keighley Creative are always looking out for new volunteers to join our fab team.

There is no financial commitment and you can do as much or as little as you want and you can tell us what roles you’re interested in. And you don’t have to be “arty”!

Volunteering can include being a trustee, supporter or participant and it offers a great opportunity to add to your skills and experience as you get to:

  • Meet new people
  • Bring something positive to Keighley
  • Learn new skills
  • Get creative
  • Pass on skills and expertise to others
  • Get experience for your CV or UCAS form
  • Develop a new hobby or existing hobby
  • HAVE FUN!

Volunteers can help us with lots of different tasks including setting up venues, putting up decorations and signage, loading and unloading materials, meeting and greeting visitors, taking care of the space, helping everyone have the best experience, selling merchandise or supporting with set up and take down.

This winter’s upcoming events requiring volunteers include our Christmas Maker Faire and the I Am Brill disco.

So if you would like to volunteer for one of our upcoming events/projects or would like more information, please email cathryn@keighleycreative.org

Stockroom Cinema rated 5*

Last week, the Leeds International Film Festival came to Keighley. Our specially built Stockroom Cinema opened it’s doors on Wednesday 15th November 2023 for the first time for the screening of the documentary, From Where We Stand.

Keighley's Stockroom Cinema

This was followed by numerous films on Saturday 18th November, namely a showing of Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train, a documentary about an infamous New York City video store and the Yorkshire Short Film Competition.

The events were all a sell out and the audience enjoyed a very comfortable cinema experience complete with a licensed bar serving specially branded Virtuous ale from Kirkstall Brewery and retro tuck shop.

The film festival has now ended but the positive feedback about the space has already led to enquiries from people wanting to use the Stockroom Cinema for various other arts such as spoken word, comedy and theatre.

To enquire about using the Stockroom Cinema and theatre space, please email admin@keighleycreative.org

Brilliant workshops for Keighley kids

Keighley Creative’s I Am Brill project is focused on celebrating the people of the local community and their brilliant talents.

As we approaching the 100 year anniversary of the opening of the Mechanics Institute, local artists are keen to highlight the town’s successes, not just in history but today, and celebrate the potential that the children of Keighley have and to help them feel brill!

I am Brill workshops

I Am Brill workshops are being held across town to give the opportunity for lots of Keighley people to be creative, show off their talents and make fun stuff from recycled materials.

Anyone is welcome and the aim is to make brilliant things whilst talking about what makes our community brilliant.

These workshops are all in preparation for our big I AM BRILL disco on Friday 12th January 2024.

To find out more about the I Am Brill workshops and project, please follow our social media @keighleycreative
