On Sunday 3rd March, as part of a Women of the World event, we are pleased to be welcoming the Yorkshire Sound Women Network to Keighley Creative.
The YSWN want to give visitors the opportunity to get hands on with music technology with the help of an experienced audio professional; participants will be able to create beats and live loops using music production software and find out how they can develop their skills and creativity by getting involved in the WIRED Online project.
The workshop will be led by Emily Johnson aka Emily J Electric, a YSWN Associate, Ableton Certified Trainer, producer, musician and performer. She will be bringing along an Ableton Push 3 for participants to do some live “looping”.
In music, a loop is a repeating section of sound. For example, a player might loop what they play on one verse of a song in order to then play along with it, accompanying themselves. Musicians, KT Tunstall and Ed Sheeran, are particularly known for creating music using looping techniques.
The WIRED Online project is a series of inspirational and empowering videos opening up the world of music-making for girls, women and minority gender young people aged 11-25 so that they can take their first steps towards becoming the record producers, sound engineers and potential hitmakers of tomorrow.
The workshop is being held at Keighley Creative on Cooke Street, between 12 noon and 4pm on Sunday 3rd March, alongside the WOW – Women of the World Festival Girls Festival bus. No need to book, just turn up!
