Irene Lofthouse tells the story of the Red Devil

At our upcoming Women of the World event, we are pleased to be welcoming a well-renowned local actor and historian to perform an interactive story about an infamous Keighley lass.

Do you know who was the first female car driver in Oakworth was?
Did you know that she was nicknamed ‘The Red Devil’ for her car and speed?!

She was also known for doing unconventional jobs like ambulance driving and gained world-wide fame for breeding dogs during WW1.

Then come to our WOW Girls Festival event on Sunday 3rd March at Keighley Creative and find out all about the inspiring Amyl Jenny Field and her adventurous, diverse life as actor/historian Irene Lofthouse
shares her story.

You may recognise Irene from taking an underground tour of the Royal Arcade or from her Unfamiliar Females project. This will be the first time that Amyl’s story has been told through a theatrical performance.

Performances are at 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm from our premises on Cooke Lane.

No need to book, just turn up.
